Meylan Decimal 816A Vintage Chronograph
Meylan is one of the many lesser-known Swiss names that appeared on period chronographs, making watches such as this particularly interesting to collectors who appreciate the depth and variety of the vintage Swiss watch industry. Rather than a modern reproduction, this is a genuine vintage chronograph with the design language and mechanical character of its era.
The Decimal 816A designation is an especially interesting detail, reflecting the period when decimal timing scales and chronographs were closely associated with technical and professional timing applications. The combination of the chronograph layout and vintage case and dial design gives the watch a distinctive presence on the wrist.
Some of the lacquer is coming up on the dial around the 3 on the bottom register. It's been like this since I've owned it for years and it has never got worse. The bezel rotates both ways and shows a small scratch at the around the 15 marker. The watch retains the character expected of a vintage chronograph, with honest signs of age that complement rather than detract from its overall appearance.

It does not include the original box or papers. We do not know the service history, but it is running well. The chronograph starts, stops and resets as it should.
Nivada Grenchen Sea Diver “Chronograph” – First Generation – Venus 210
A fantastic original example of the early Nivada Grenchen Sea Diver, featuring the “Chronograph” designation on the dial rather than the later and more familiar “Chronomaster” name.
This is an especially interesting and desirable early version for collectors of Nivada Grenchen and vintage chronographs. The watch represents the period before Nivada began using the “Chronomaster” name on the dial, making these early “Chronograph” examples an important part of the model’s history and evolution.
Inside is the highly regarded Venus 210 hand-wound column-wheel chronograph movement, a classic Swiss chronograph caliber known for its robust construction and traditional architecture.
For the collector who appreciates early Nivada Grenchen, vintage Swiss chronographs, and watches with an interesting place in a model's development, this is a particularly appealing example.
